How fantastic it was to hear from Rachel Gray from Balcombe Grammar regarding the new Interact club.
Peter Wiltshire set the scene and we thank Peter and our Youth Service team to their dedication and enthusiasm for this project.
Rachel told us how the students were meeting at lunchtimes and that various positions have now been filled including President.
Their choices of projects are Youth Mental Health (Headspace) and the Sky Hydrant for their International project.
They are establishing a great relationship with the Interact Club at Frankston High School.
This project really is a step forward for our club and we look forward to our involvement as the Interact Club charters early in the next Rotary year.
We also heard from Geena Davy one of the Interactors who has 6 National titles for the long jump and is heading to the Oceania Athletics Championships. Such an inspirational person, we wish Geena well and please see if you are able to assist her with her “go fund me” page.
Congratulations to Lara Barrett for receiving a Sapphire Paul Harris Fellow for her 8 years as Secretary and 15 years on the committee of “Shine On Recognition”.
The Shine on Recognitionis an annual Australia wide Rotary recognition program that acknowledges exceptional service to others by people with disabilities. The candidates for the Shine on Awards have to demonstrate a significant level of achievement, while at the same time managing their specific medical disorders.
Two outstanding Nominees were awarded the top Trophy. Peter Talbot, who started the first Vietnam Veterans Counselling Service and Hannah Bradsworth, Public Speaker, actor, dancer, radio show host.
Margaret Desmyth a loved Committee Member also retired after 25 years and received another PHF for her dedication.
