Rotary Mount Martha this week

We were absolutely delighted to hear from Gemma Hughes, Team Leader at Fusion Mornington Peninsula together with Luke West who is now a Youth Ambassador for Fusion.

Luke's story is inspirational and we were privileged to hear from him last Monday, with thanks to Gemma and her team at Fusion. Thank you Luke and see you at the next BBQ!

Luke and Gemma sharing an inspirational story.

MHSN “Together We Dip” 30.8.26

Bacon & Egg Rolls were all the go at the MHSN, “Together We Dip”

Mick shared with the crowd that gathered before they took to the near freezing water, some of the great work MHSN is doing in our secondary schools and beyond.

MMUC Celebrating Community

James and Olive from Balcombe Grammar Interact shared with the community service some of the projects they have been involved in this past year.

BGS Interact Chair Rev Peter, with BGS Interact Coordinator Rachel, Olive, Harry, BGS Interact President James and President Peter.

Thank you Yvonne!

After 14 dedicated years at the Mornington Community Support Centre, Yvonne's service was celebrated with CEO Ben Smith sharing a heartfelt message of thanks and well wishes from all.

Yvonne spoke with passion about her years of service and how the MCSC has grown, served and delivered over those years.

Ron and Peter were on-hand to wish Yvonne well and to show appreciation for her incredible work and her support of the Containers 4 Community program.

Nepal Flooding Disaster Relief Fund

Donations can be made to support those impacted by the Nepal Flooding. Funds are held by the Rotary Australia Relief Fund, a RAWCS charity.

Funds go to Rotary projects and Rotary Clubs in Nepal working with affected families and communities.

They are not asking for much. Clean water. A tarpaulin. A first aid kit. A little cash so a family can decide for themselves what they need most.

Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) is helping them keep going. Working with trusted partners on the ground to get donations where it is needed.

Conservation Covenants - Have Your Say

Mornington Peninsula Shire is inviting community members to have their say on a proposal to place permanent legal protection over four special bushland reserves through conservation covenants:

  • Betty Clift Conservation Reserve, Rosebud
  • Lorna's Triangle Bushland Reserve, Bittern
  • Peninsula Sands Bushland Reserve, Rosebud
  • Woods Bushland Reserve, Tuerong

Interested in exploring these special places? Join one of the free guided walks during September and learn more about the reserves firsthand. Walks commence on 3 September, so be quick to secure your place.

Places are limited and bookings are essential: Bushland Guided Walks | Eventbrite

To learn more, share your feedback, visit: Conservation Covenants - Our Bushland. Our Legacy | Shape Our Future

What's coming up….

This Monday 31 August we have NO MEETING.

Next week the Community, International and Youth Committees will meet.

Padua College Interviews

Padua College Year 12 Professional Portfolio Interviews

Once again Padua College has asked for our support for their  VCE Vocational Major Students Portfolio Interviews. These year 12 students are looking at finding employment rather than going on to university. There are approximately 50 students to be interviewed. The interviews are scheduled for Tuesday September 15

Start and finish times would depend on the number of volunteers we get. If you are able to assist for any part of the day could you please let Phyl Scales know as soon as possible by text message on 0419138187 or by email at phylscales@yahoo.com  Phyl won't be at Rotary meeting this month due to other commitments so a text or email is the only way to contact her. As always she would really appreciate your support in assisting these students.

Padua College Year 11 Mock Interviews

There are 30 VCE Vocational Major Year 11 students to be interviewed on Monday October 19 from 11 am to 1.30pm

Once again if you are available for this program could you please let Phyl Scales know by text message on 0419138187 or by email at phylscales@yahoo.com
