From President Anne

Monday night our club heard from Cathryn Leonard from Rotary Mount Eliza about the Musical Enrichment Program. It was wonderful to hear about the opportunity to give primary students in years 5 and 6 the chance to visit Hamer Hall and experience the magic of classical music in an interactive learning program.

Our club members unanimously supported the project and we are seeking 40 places this year.

Cathryn speaking with passion about the MEP!

On Tuesday Peter Wiltshire, Bill Goodwin and I attended a meeting at Mount Martha Primary and had a very successful session with Principal Karen and VP Jane and Jon from School Council. We discussed many ways our club could support the school from a Community Service Award to the Musical Enrichment Prohram, Container Deposit Scheme, School projects, and the upcoming Mount Martha Village BBQ. Watch this space!

On Friday, Peter Wiltshire was busy supporting the BGS Interact Club with their Wheelchairs for Kids event which raised enough funds to purchase 15 wheelchairs, which is brilliant.

Friday evening, nine members attended Quinn's Place as we cooked dinner for the young people and volunteer supervisors. Such an amazing place in a world where young people need positive things to channel their energy into.

We must thank Linden's Fresh at Bentons for the donation of burgers and both Woolworths at Mornington and Bentons Square for vouchers - which helped cover the cost of food.

The volunteers headed up by Monique Story do such an inspiring job to create a safe space for our youth.

Some quotes from the night; “This really is community service at grass roots level.” “Rotary changes lives - young people can be empowered and given agency, when we believe in them!" … and “we should do this again before Christmas!”

This week there is NO Monday meeting as we will be attending a joint meeting with Rotary Mount Eliza and Rotary Mornington with DG Peter Behm.

Rotary Mount Martha this week

This week we installed a new Containers 4 Community cage at The Bays Hospital, Mornington - with installer Mark and Steph from The Bays capturing the moment!

Rotary Traditional Christmas Fruit Cakes and Puddings.

The club is once again selling Christmas cakes and puddings at thee same price as last year. Those who purchased cakes previously know how delicious they are!

The Christmas cake project is run by Rotary Melton Valley in D9800 who donate profits to The Rotary Foundation - and Rotary Mount Martha will be credited for the amount that we raise.

Rotary Mount Martha will make a small amount from the sale of each cake which will go into our club account.

Cakes come in a reusable tin for $22 or in a box for $20, and they will make a great gift for Christmas!

If you would like to order, then please contact Phyl Scales - phylscales@yahoo.com or text 0419 138 187 - and payment details will be advised on receipt of your order.

Orders will close on 30 September. Thank you!
