From President Anne
What a wonderful evening it was on Monday at the Mornington Community Support Centre. Fantastic to have so many visitors, Julian Inglese, Malcolm and Kerryn Daff, Susan Coyle, Chris Crewther, Rob Cook and partners Jenny Mayne, Jill Cummins and Chris Davies join us.
Thank you to Rob Davies for organising the grazing boxes from Just Graze and we also enjoyed some other goodies from Bentons Noodle Bar who were so excited to be cooking for Rotarians.
But the evening was all about learning about the amazing work of MCSC and CEO Ben Smith and Senior Case Manager Yvonne Anderson helped us to understand the vast range of services offered.
Ben gave us a guided tour of the facility and we saw the pantry, café, fresh food distribution and councilling rooms. We also got to see the mural which our club sponsored.
It is such a worthy recipient of our support and the centre with a “budget” of $800,000 only received $300,000 from government.
The takeaway message for me was the importance of early intervention before people become homeless. We should be proud to have such a service in our community which relies heavily on the amazing volunteers.

The CDS Container Deposit Scheme kicked off this week and huge credit goes to Rob Davies and Peter Rawlings for their commitment and drive.
Next week we have our committee meetings, and remember that you can attend other committee meetings of interest.
Bentons Square - 4 November
A big day at Bentons Square again on Saturday and a huge thanks for the support of the centre and great to see Centre Manager Chi Le on the day.
Lindens Fresh supplied the sausages again and Baker’s Delight the bread. Thank you so much!
We had help from friends of Rotary Judi Haysom, Susan Coyle, Rosie Italiano, Despi O’Connor, Rotarians Chris Crewther and Rob Cook, Honorary Rotarian David Price and our own great crew headed up by Peter Rawlings who coordinated the day.
Thank you to Wayne Jenkins, Colin Stokes, Peter Warren, Tim Jolly, Gordon Morriss, Roger Annear, Barrie Sweeney, Bill Cummins, Pat Morton, Tom Barrett, John Waterhouse, and Byron Groves for a great job on the BBQ and collections.
We raised $565 with the BBQ and $1,170 from donations and $572 of Christmas cake sales.
Brilliant effort everyone.

Containers for Community
The Container Deposit Scheme was officilally launched on Wednesday 1st November.
Our Over The Counter at the MCSC was operational with Yvonne Anderson at the helm during the week and Rob Davies on Saturday.
It is a marvellous system and we look forward to the community utilising the service, to the benefit of the MCSC, and the local community through the Rotary Club of Mount Martha.
Our scheme number is C2000000928.
Our first week engaging with the Mornington Gardens Holiday Village was very rewarding and we look forward to developing this relationship over the longer term.
