From President Anne

Last Monday we looked at our year ahead and approved the continuation of the Ingin Midwives hut project and Wheelchairs for Kids. There are so many wonderful projects that we are involved with.

Monday is changeover at the Alexandra Park Pavilion and I look forward to seeing you there!
We enjoyed a visit from Steve Daly who spoke about his experience as President of Mansfield Rotary Club. It’s always great to hear from past club members and hear about what they are doing in their communities.

FMP Community Group

On Friday President elects Jo Davie from Mornington, Jim Young from Mount Eliza and Anne Shaw from Mount Martha caught up with RCL Peter Rawlings and Ross Kilborn where we spoke about having some joint meetings and supporting each other’s projects. Ross joined us to share information about the Ranch 2.0 and the progress being made!

We are keen to strengthen our relationships with our neighbouring clubs.
Ranch 2.0 Update 25.6.25

Ross Kilborn from Rotary Mornington - Ranch 2.0 Project Coordinator, has provided this update below.

Thank you again everyone. We have very nearly finished Unit 3

We had a visit from Damian who produced the Ranch Documentary and he captured some video in anticipation of a possible follow up.

Jo Kidder, from MCSC who will run the Ranch 2.0 once we hand over the Units,  also visited to assess the furniture needs.

With the work done this week we are down to a little bit of painting, some miscellaneous small tasks,   and removal of the gas heater in Unit 3 by the Gas Plumber before we can repair and paint the wall.

The next big bee will be when some more units are vacated in a few weeks.

Other things still to be done ..
  • light fittings in Unit 2 - Electrician lined up
  • final clean of the units including a window cleaning
  • receiving and placing furniture ( I might be  looking for a couple of gorillas to get furniture up to Unit 7 )
  • unblocking a couple of drains - I think I have a plumber lined up
  • concrete repairs to the bottom of the second set of stairs - I think I have a concreter lined up
  • there is an external toilet / basin in a small  storage room at the back which could be good for visiting trades people etc .The cistern needs replacing and plumbing sorted. Any help with this would be good .
One thing Jo mentioned yesterday is the desirability of storage sheds. At the current Ranch many guests have some possessions and nowhere to keep them, they  are paying for storage lockers. The area at the back near the clothes lines and adjacent to the back wall might provide a possible location for some storage sheds ( in addition to the little lockers near the downstairs units) ? Any ideas or interest in this are welcome?

More good news is that
  • Actrol Air Conditioning have donated an AC and Matt is going to fit it at n/c in Unit 1
  • Through Repower I have two companies coming to assess how we convert to renewable energy to reduce power bills, and they are interested to donate
  • Carpets in Unit 7 are still scheduled for installation on Friday
  • Ben has a company potentially interested in supplying an external security system
  • Mornington Rotary has donated money for  some of the white goods like fridges and washing machines that Harvey Norman Mornington will supply at very reduced $.
So all good, thank you .

As more than one of our volunteers said this week ..."I would be happy to live here" ....which is a great credit to the work everyone has done to get us this point.
