Rotary Mount Martha this week

Last week our Community, International and Youth Committees met, with particular emphasis on our upcoming events, including the RYPEN BBQ next Sunday and the schools activities as we approach the end of the calendar and school year.

The International Committee made a recommendation to donate AUD $1,000 to the RAWCS Flooding Relief Appeal which was subsequently approved by the Board and the donation was made later in the week. Further details of this fund can be found later in this Bulletin.

A reminder for those attending the Mount Martha Fire Brigade dinner and site visit - Monday 14 September, 6.00 for a 6.30pm start. Please park on the street - and BYO drinks and glass.

Mount Martha House 10.9.26

We were warmly welcomed by Serena from the Mount Martha House Community Centre - with a delicious morning tea and a welcome board of information. Serena led us through an entertaining quiz which was both fun and informative.

We thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of the Mount Martha House Community Centre with our members and partners joining in …

… and the Community Bank Mount Martha was particularly noted as a sponsor of the Mornington Mount Martha Model Railway Club which is also housed at the centre,

Our Rotary Mount Martha - MMHCC liaison Bill gave a vote of thanks to Serena for her time and most interesting site visit.

MHSN thank you.

On behalf of Mental Health Safety Net, I’d like to sincerely thank you for your support of Together We Dip – A community coming together for mental health.

We had a fantastic turnout, with lots of people braving the cold water and coming together to show their support for mental health and our community. And, of course, the egg and bacon rolls you and your team cooked were a very welcome reward for our cold dippers!

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the community, we are delighted to share that $1,282 was raised through the event. These funds will help us continue providing vital suicide prevention education and support across our community.

We were also pleased to acknowledge your support on the Together We Dip event website, at the event, and across our social media channels, helping us recognise the local organisations and businesses that made the event possible.

Your support helped us create an event that was not only a lot of fun, but also provided an opportunity for people to connect, start conversations, and remind one another that no one has to face life's challenges alone.

Please find attached your Certificate of Appreciation as a small token of our thanks. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for helping us create ripples of connection, hope. and support across our community.

We hope you enjoyed being part of Together We Dip, and we look forward to working with you again soon.

Mick Simmons and Paula Creek, MHSN

Certificate of Appreciation

Nepal Flooding Disaster Relief Fund

Donations can be made to support those impacted by the Nepal Flooding. Funds are held by the Rotary Australia Relief Fund, a RAWCS charity.

Funds go to Rotary projects and Rotary Clubs in Nepal working with affected families and communities.

They are not asking for much. Clean water. A tarpaulin. A first aid kit. A little cash so a family can decide for themselves what they need most.

Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) is helping them keep going. Working with trusted partners on the ground to get donations where it is needed.

Conservation Covenants - Have Your Say

Mornington Peninsula Shire is inviting community members to have their say on a proposal to place permanent legal protection over four special bushland reserves through conservation covenants:

  • Betty Clift Conservation Reserve, Rosebud
  • Lorna's Triangle Bushland Reserve, Bittern
  • Peninsula Sands Bushland Reserve, Rosebud
  • Woods Bushland Reserve, Tuerong

Interested in exploring these special places? Join one of the free guided walks during September and learn more about the reserves firsthand. Walks commence on 3 September, so be quick to secure your place.

Places are limited and bookings are essential: Bushland Guided Walks | Eventbrite

To learn more, share your feedback, visit: Conservation Covenants - Our Bushland. Our Legacy | Shape Our Future

What's coming up….

This week our Community, International and Youth Committee's are meeting.

Next week our Membership team will meet at the Mount Martha Fire Brigade at 5pm prior to our dinner and visit to the fire brigade from 6pm.

Padua College Interviews

Padua College Year 12 Professional Portfolio Interviews

Once again Padua College has asked for our support for their  VCE Vocational Major Students Portfolio Interviews. These year 12 students are looking at finding employment rather than going on to university. There are approximately 50 students to be interviewed. The interviews are scheduled for Tuesday September 15

Start and finish times would depend on the number of volunteers we get. If you are able to assist for any part of the day could you please let Phyl Scales know as soon as possible by text message on 0419138187 or by email at phylscales@yahoo.com  Phyl won't be at Rotary meeting this month due to other commitments so a text or email is the only way to contact her. As always she would really appreciate your support in assisting these students.

Padua College Year 11 Mock Interviews

There are 30 VCE Vocational Major Year 11 students to be interviewed on Monday October 19 from 11 am to 1.30pm

Once again if you are available for this program could you please let Phyl Scales know by text message on 0419138187 or by email at phylscales@yahoo.com
