From President Anne

Last Monday we had Monique Story and Sargent Paddy Hayes from Quinn’s Place visit us.

They spoke about the work they do with young people, Quinn’s Place recently celebrated it’s second birthday. A very moving evening with Monique also talking about her book.

Quinn’s Place runs on the generosity of the community and they receive food every week from generous businesses.

There is always a duty of care with young people and they have established a members only approach.

Sargent Paddy answered questions about the challenges dealing with youth and serial offenders, there is no easy solution.

This week our club committees will be meeting.
Monique and Paddy share the Quinn's Place story

Rotary International President Gordon McInally events

The two events held on Sunday 2.6. at the RACV Cape Schanck and on Monday 3.6 at the Frankston Arts Centre were simply amazing and surpassed all expectations.

With in excess of two hundred attending each event, the attendees heard heartfelt and thought provoking messages from the Rotary International President Gordon McInally and Professor Pat McGorry AO as they spoke on mental illness, some causes and how we can help.

On Monday morning in Frankston, with around 80 students and Rotaractors in attendance, these young folk were given much to think about, as were we all.

Discussions are already underway as to how we as Rotarians can further develop and support mental health programs  and mechanisms particularly for our local youth.
