"Mount Martha Rotary is a group of dedicated volunteers who believe in service above self and building community. We are involved in a diverse range of activities that strive to improve life for others."
What a brilliant meeting on Wednesday night, with over 130 attendees from Mornington, Mount Martha, Mount Eliza, Sorrento and Frankston clubs
Jo Davies, President of Rotary Mornington, welcomed us all
We heard from Frankston Mornington Peninsula Community Group Leader, Peter Rawlings about our Rotary Clubs key focus of homelessness and how our FMPCG has contributed over $80,000 to our four community support centres in the past 12 months
Ben Smith CEO of Mornington Community Support Centre gave us more insight into the plight of so many, with at least 100 people sleeping rough and another 1,000 sleeping in cars or other undesirable places.
Ben outlined the simple mathematics of income versus expenses and it was clear how people can be in this situation. It was a bleak night with high winds and rain - and we reminded about those in the elements with no place to go.
Ross Kilborn talked about The Ranch 2.0 and the incredible way that businesses and individuals got behind the project. It was humbling and inspiring to hear about the generosity and selflessness of so many. A truly unforgettable experience!
This week we have our guest speaker, Rachel Gray and look forward to hearing about her life journey.
For those with Christmas Cake and Pudding orders, please remember to collect off Peter when possible. You can also still order from Phyl - with sales at Bunnings, Bentons and the Village in December.
Please note in your diaries our “Christmas Night” on Wednesday 17th December at Donato's - partners and friends welcome!
Rotary Mount Martha this week
Warlimont & Nutt have very kindly displayed this poster in their window in the Mount Martha Village. It denotes all of our project distributions for the 2024-25 Rotary year. What a story and impact! Thank you to Fergus and team for your ongoing support.
Rotary Traditional Christmas Fruit Cakes and Puddings.
The club is once again selling Christmas cakes and puddings. Those who purchased cakes previously know how delicious they are!
The Christmas cake project is a project of Rotary Darwin South in District 9560. Rotary Darwin South donates the profits to The Rotary Foundation - and Rotary Mount Martha will be credited for the amount that we raise.
Rotary Mount Martha will make a small amount from the sale of each cake which will go into our club account.
Cakes come in a reusable tin for $22 or in a box for $20, and they will make a great gift for Christmas!
If you would like to order, then please contact Phyl Scales - phylscales@yahoo.com or text 0419 138 187 - and payment details will be advised on receipt of your order.
