Rotary Mount Martha this week
from President Anne

Birthing Kits

Last Monday, a group made up of Rotarians, partners and friends combined to assemble 200 birthing kits to be sent to the village of Ingin in remote Papua New Guinea.

These kits are used to provide a sanitary environment for mothers giving birth. A kit comprises of a ground sheet, gloves, soap, sterile swabs, a scalpel and some string to secure the umbilical cord. This may appear very basic, but our efforts so far have eradicated maternal and infant mortality from infection.

Rotary- making a difference.

PDG Ray Martin, Project Co-ordinator

There’s something incredibly satisfying in doing something hands on, that is how it felt last Monday when we put together 200 birthing kits to be sent to Ingin in Papua New Guinea. Ray Martin had everything set up for us and we donned our gloves and went to work.

It was great to have partners Yvonne, Chris, Lyn and Heather join us. We have been involved with birthing kits for a number of years now but hadn’t made them up before. Since the birthing kits have been supplied there has been no infant mortality due to hygiene so it’s a seriously good investment!

A wonderful team effort by the club.

Bentons Square with Quinn's Place

On Easter Saturday we had a table at Bentons Square Shopping Centre with a team from Quinn’s Place, where we raised just over $200 but more importantly we raised awareness for this fantastic opportunity for young people.

MCSC Emergency Transition Appeal

This week we transferred $1000 to Mornington Community Support Centre for their Emergency Transition Appeal which assists those people at the Ranch Motel relocate.

This was the response from CEO Ben Smith

Thank you so much! This will go a long way to supporting our community right now. Always appreciate the crew at Mt Martha Rotary”

Also, note that on Easter Monday 6.4.26 we will be at Bunnings raising funds for the Ranch Appeal.

MPPS BBQ 24.4.26

We are still looking for a few more helpers for the BBQ lunch at Mornington Park Primary School on 24th April from 9 am until midday. Please let President Anne know if you can assist.
