Wayne Norris joined the Rotary Club of Mount Martha on 20 October 2010.
In 2012 to 2014, Wayne was our Club Bulletin Editor.
Then from 2016 to 2019, Wayne was our Club Treasurer for three years.
From 2019 to 2021 Wayne took on the role as Club Secretary and again assumed the role from 2023 to the present. Wayne had been elected to continue the role into 2027.
Wayne served on the Club Board over many years.
Wayne was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow in July 2019.
We will all miss Wayne immensely and we send our loving thoughts to wife Cheryl, children Dannielle, Lynton and their families at this saddest of times.
A Celebration of Life for Wayne Trevor Norris will be held at 10am on Wednesday 25 February 2026 at Tobin Brothers, 604 Esplanade, Mount Martha.
We had a very busy meeting. First we heard from visiting Rotarians Erin and Ryan Dobesh, Rotary Club 14, Lincoln, Nebraska USA, it was very interesting to hear about their club which is the largest club in Lincoln with over 250 members and celebrated 115 years of service.
Su Ai gave an entertaining Bio where we heard how he met his wife Wanjia as a child at school in Chengdu in China when she provided him with tissues for his runny nose. We heard about his education and time working at the bike shop where they taught Su “Aussie lingo”. Su came to Australia to be with Wanjia and works in product design. He talked about why he joined Rotary, to give back to the community. We enjoy Su’s enthusiasm and drive.
John Harvey, President of Mount Martha Lifesaving Club came to thank us for our support with the Nippers Carnival and the MMAD swim on Australia Day. We raised $3,834 and these funds will go towards vital equipment including some new Nippers boards. We had some discussion about the valuable contribution the club makes to the safety of our beaches and coastal areas.
This week we have representatives from Mornington Park Primary School as our guest speakers and the Induction of Jill Stanszus.
Next week we will hold a Board Meeting and Projects Night.
