On Monday night we heard from Russell Hayes and Grant Klaaysen about Wheelchairs for Kids.
What an amazing project! It started in 1998, they have 800 volunteers and have made over 60,000 chairs. They work with disability centres across 90 countries. Each chair cost $275 and we announced that the club was contributing to purchase 4 wheelchairs, I hope we can do more with this in the future.
We were delighted to be joined by Rachel Gray and Interactors TinTin, Eva, James and Olive from Balcombe Grammar. They were equally excited by the Wheelchairs for Kids and are looking to do a wheelathon in term four.

Monday we were presented with a cheque from Mount Martha Community Bank for our Christmas Decorations project. Nick Roberts donated his directors $1,000 and we are looking forward to seeing Mount Martha with baubles in all the shops and businesses.
Could I also ask that you consider bringing your partner and guests along on Monday 30th September as we celebrate PDG David Crane's 50 Years of Rotary Service.
Another date is the 21st October, when we will be holding our Pride of Workmanship Awards. Please read below.
This week is a club assembly and I look forward to an evening of discussion and learning.

Merv and Chris Williams have registered on a Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) Volunteer Team to Cambodia.
The team consisting of 15 Rotarians and non-Rotarians will be travelling to Cambodia and will be assisting at two RAWCS Overseas Aid projects at community and children’s support centres in Phnom Penh and Seim Reap. These centres provide food, education and medical supplies to the street children.
As part of assisting these centres, the team members have been requested to seek donations of goods which will be taken over in our luggage and distributed to the children at these centres –
New Children’s clothing – size 0-10 – preferably shorts & T shirts.
Toys (small) which would actively benefit the children ie tennis balls - Pencils, writing books, erasers - Tooth-brushes & toothpaste.
Any donations would be appreciated, and we will have a collection box at our September meetings.
