From President Anne

On Monday we heard from Michelle de la Coeur on recycling. Michelle is an Environment Education officer with Mornington Peninsula Shire.

Michelle gave us a quiz to test our knowledge and showed us lots of examples of various recycled materials.

Recycling is part of the solution, there are many Rs - Rethink, Reuse, Reduce, Refuse, Repurpose, Repair, Rehome, Recycle.
Plastic can only be recycled 2-5 times and only 9% of plastic is recycled.

It was alarming to hear about the amount of plastic we ingest on a weekly basis.

Recycling can be annoying and confusing, we should look at these waste streams as a resource because they are valuable and can be used again and again. The circular economy saves landfill and was worth $19 billion into the economy in 2021/22.
It challenges us to think about the choices we make!
Michelle de la Coeur on Recycling
Many thanks to all who participated in the Bunnings BBQ.

It isn’t just about the sausage, I really enjoy the conversations we have.

We raised just under $800 on Friday and $100 in donations for the homeless.

This weeks meeting is a club assembly and we look forward to hearing from our committees!

We will be getting important feedback on progress with Interact and feedback from the membership survey.

Also discussion on Regionalisation and which community our club works best with.

At 5pm we are having a meeting on the Dunns Road Community Event and encourage everyone to attend. This has the potential to be an annual event which the club really needs and gets us out there in the community.

Please come and help drive the club into the future.

Final chance to order your Christmas Cakes!

The club is once again selling Christmas cakes. Those who purchased cakes previously know that they are delicious. The Christmas cake project is a project of the RC of Melton Valley in D9800. RC Melton Valley donates the profits to The Rotary Foundation & RCMM will be credited for the amount that we raise.

RCMM will also make a small amount from the sale of each cake which will go into our projects account. The cakes come in a re-usable tin with Rotary’s areas of focus on them for the bargain price of $22 each OR in a box for $20.  The price is less than what most of us would spend at one normal dinner meeting. They make a great small gift or stocking filler.

If you would like to order, please contact Phyl Scales at phylscales@yahoo.com or sms to
0419 138 187 by October 23rd.
Payment details will be advised on receipt of your order.

MEMBERS INDICATED THAT WE SHOULD BUY CAKES TO SELL, SO LET’S ALL PLEASE REMEMBER THIS AND TAKE A FEW TO SELL AS WELL AS BUYING FOR YOUR NEEDS.  THANK YOU!
The final D9820 Conference, not to be missed!
